Father, Daughter Have Joint Visitation After RT 322 Crash At Lebanon/Lancaster Line (Update)

A father and his daughter have had a joint visitation following a double-fatal two-vehicle crash on PA Route 322 on Dec. 1, according to their obituaries.

Allen G. English, 84 of West End Avenue, Lititz Borough, and his daughter, Grace English-Rohrer of Pine Drive, Lancaster, were killed at the scene of the crash on PA Route 322. West 28th Divison Highway near the Lancaster/Lebanon counties line in Penn Township, Manheim at 11:45 a.m., on Friday, Dec. 1, the Northern Lancaster County Regional Police Department detailed in a release. 

At 11:54 a.m. NYCRPD, the Brickerville Fire Company Number 1, and Warwick EMS were called to the crash with reported entrapment. 

When the emergency crews arrived, the police officers found Beth A. Fife, 50 of Dawkins Drive, East Earl Township, had crossed into the opposing lane of traffic — slamming her 2019 Infiniti head-on into English's 2017 Ford.

Fife suffered injuries and was taken to an area hospital, according to the police. 

English's Ford caught fire and both he and his daughter "were unable to escape the vehicle," the police said, adding, " All family members involved have been notified at this time the members of the Northern Lancaster County Regional Police Department wish to extend our sympathy to those effected by the loss of their loved ones."

The Lancaster County Crash Team and the Lancaster County Coroner's Office, as well as NYCRPD, and the fire company, remained on the scene investigating the double fatal well into the afternoon on Dec. 1. 

No charges have been filed in this case as of Dec. 12 and the cause of this crash is still under investigation by the NYCRPD collision investigation unit.

"Grace was a graduate of Warwick High School and Edinboro University," as stated in her obituary. She went on to work at QVC for 20 years, "the last 14 as [a] store manager and also worked at Jamesway, Roses, and Ames," as written in her obituary. 

When she met her husband Marc E. Rohrer she knew “we’re simply meant to be;" they were married for 17 years. 

She enjoyed genealogy, family vacations to National Parks and historical sites, as well as Native American Culture, and  wolves, according to her obituary.

Allen was born in Erie, according to his obituary.

"He proudly served in the US Air Force as an Air Traffic Controller for four years in Germany, France and Louisiana. His military service was a testament to his dedication and love for his country," as written in his obituary

He went on to American Paper Products Mill, CND Power Com, and "as part of a road construction crew on the original 'Goat Path' in 1975, which brought his family to Lancaster County," as stated in his obituary. 

For fun he hunted, cooked, and spent time with his family, according to his obituary.

His wife of 63 years, Barbara A. Bilger English, passed away on August 16, 2023.

Grace is survived by her husband, their twins; brother Thomas B. (Debra) English, and sister: Allyn C. (Eric) Taylor, both of Lititz, and extended family.

Allen is survived by Grace's survivors as well as his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and his brother: Thomas (Mary) English of Phoenix, AZ. 

A Private Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date for Grace and no additional services will be held for Allen per his wishes. However, Grace and Allen's joint visitation was held at Workman Funeral Homes, Inc., 114 West Main Street, Mountville from 3 to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 12. 

Instead of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Grace to: the Children’s Miracle Network Hershey, cmnhershey.org, or the Wolf Sanctuary of PA, 465 Speedwell Forge Road, Lititz, PA 17543.
